Sukhpalvir Singh Hasrat

 

"Hasrat" Sukhpalvir Singh born on  August 27, 1938 in Chack No. 109, Tehsil Khanewal, Distt. Multan, Pakistan to S.Lal Singh Bajwa and Gursharan Kaur. Did M.A. and Honours in Punjabi and M.A. English was working as Joint Director Magazines and Publications in Punjab Public Relations Department at Chandigarh. Died in an accident on September 9, 1995.

 

Published 20 books in Punjabi Verse include "Suraj Te Kehakshan" (1980) - Bharti Sahitya Akademi Award, "Shakti Naad" in 1968 and "Suraj Da Kafla" in 1961 both Punjan Government Languages Department Awards. "Hiyai De Some" in 1961 Sahitya Samikhya Board Award also published Literary Criticism books three, Novels (Three), ABio-Graphies-Two, Distincive Poet, Led the Proyagsheel movement in Punjabi Literature and introduced Shaktivaad (Vttalism) in Punjabi Literature.

 

Edited Punjabi magazine "Jagriti" between 1971-80, 1983-94 and English magazine "Advance" in 1983-94. He was founder and General Sectary of Punjabi Sahit Kala Kendra, member Punjabi Advance Board of Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, Founder General Sectary Punjabi Samikhya Board and General Sectary of Punjabi Darbar.

 

His books were prescribed for IAS (Punjabi) and other University Exams. His books were translated in various languages and he visited foreign countries to attend World Punjabi Conferences. Government of India prepared a TV Film shown on National hook-up on April 24, 1987.

He was survived by a Son, Daughter and Wife.
